Running for the Conservation Lands Comes to Seattle

On Sunday December 1st, runners will take to the streets for the Amica Seattle Marathon and this year we’re an official charity partner. Six brave souls have been logging countless training miles while also raising money and awareness of the National Conservation Lands and more than a dozen others will be volunteering with us at the run.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 and we’ve raised more than $7,340 so far. There’s still have time to reach our goal. You can help by donating online!

Celebrating the San Juan Islands National Monument

This is a particularly exciting race for us since it’s so close to the newly-established San Juan Islands National Monument – currently the only portion of the National Conservation Lands in Washington State. We asked our team why they would run 13 and 26 miles for us.  Here’s what they had to say:

Iceberg Point, San Juan Islands

Iceberg Point, San Juan Islands

  • I want to honor CLF which has helped create a lasting gift to the people of Washington and all the visitors to the San Juan Islands with the San Juan Islands National Monument.
  •  I want to express my gratitude for the San Juan Islands National Monument which provides me and my family and friends an accessible, beautiful place to be outdoors.
  •  Iceberg Point, part of the San Juan Islands National Monument, is my favorite run anywhere.

Running for the National Conservation Lands

This is the inaugural year for our marathon racing program, which launched in May when we became an official charity partner with the Denver Colfax Marathon. Seventeen runners joined Team Conservation Lands Foundation for the race and raised more than $6,000. The race had a team option for the marathon and Team CLF brought a team of Colorado craft brewers!

Looking ahead, we’re going to keep running in 2014. We’ll be a charity partner again for the Colfax Marathon in May and we’ll be on the East Coast for the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington DC next October!

Don’t run? That’s ok. You can still join us and donate to the Conservation Lands Foundation. Thank you for your support!
