About King Range Alliance
The King Range Alliance maximizes collaboration among King Range National Conservation Area groups to advance public conservation and educational activities. We inspire involvement of students, visitors and the community to steward, preserve and restore the natural life of the King Range Natural Conservation Area. Groups that make up the Alliance are all members of the Friends Grassroots Network: Lost Coast Interpretive Association, Mattole Restoration Council, Mattole Salmon Group and Sanctuary Forest.
The recreation opportunities in the King Range are as diverse as the landscape. The Douglas fir-clad peaks attract hikers, hunters, campers and mushroom collectors, while the coast beckons to surfers, backpackers, anglers, and beachcombers.
The King Range National Conservation Area is part of the National Conservation Lands system composed of National Monuments and National Conservation Areas, Wilderness and Wilderness Study Areas, Wild and Scenic Rivers, National Scenic and Historic Trails and more. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the National Conservation Lands recognize and protect some of the West’s most spectacular natural areas – like the King Range!
